Granny Nina makes the best Cotechino in the world. One Sunday we went to her house for dinner and got there early enough to help her make it. Whenever we go see her, I always bring my Flip-Pal with me, just in case. The first think I did was use my Flip-Pal to scan Grandma's recipe. I then used my Smartphone to record Grandma talking about her recipe.
Whenever my family's in the mood for Italian food, I find Granny's recipe on my tablet, play back the audio from that afternoon and just smile as I make it myself. It feels like she's right there in my kitchen making it with me.
My father's cousin, Elisabeth, from England, was visiting with us for a few days. One day she showed me various family documents and photos that I had never seen before. One was a photograph of my paternal grandmother in England. Dad had passed away and she thought I should have the photo. I went and got my Flip-Pal and scanned the photo. After it transferred to my iPhone, I used the Flip Pal Scan Tools app to record Elisabeth talking about how her mother had kept the photo of my grandmother on her night stand all those years. Both Elisabeth and I started tearing up a bit as we shared stories of her mother, my Dad and my grandmother. Every time I look at that photo, I listen to the sound of Elisbeth and I talking, laughing and a little crying.
